Engagement Pictures at Kelly Park at Rock Springs
We met up at Rock Springs in Kelly Park to do their engagement session and we had a blast. They event jumped in the all year round 70-degree water at the end. Brave!
How soon should I schedule my session?
One question we get asked a lot is how soon after getting engaged should you take engagement pictures? After you’ve gotten engaged, your mind first goes to when are we going to get married… we have to start planning! But hang on there team, take a minute to enjoy the fact that you’re engaged! It’s an exciting time, take a minute to celebrate by having an engagement party. Maybe it’s just a small get together with your families.
Planning
Wedding planning takes a great deal of time out of your daily life, before you jump right in, maybe 1-2 months after getting engaged, it might be time to schedule your engagement session photography. You’ll be able to use those images for your engagement party invites, your save-the-dates, and just generally flooding the internet with the fact that you two are adorable together and are getting married! Plus, it’s always nice to have pictures of yourselves at the beginning of all the excitement.
Choosing your vibe
Not only do you want to choose a photographer that matches your vibe for your engagement session, but this might help you choose your wedding photographer too. A lot of photographers, including us, include a free engagement session into your wedding package. If you are unsure about hiring the right wedding photographer right away, doing an engagement session gives you a chance to work with your photographer before the big day. This way everyone gets a chance to get comfortable with everyone else before you tie the knot. For us, when we set up an engagement session, we try to guide our couples to pick a place that is special to them or an activity they enjoy together like eating doughnuts or bike riding. Having fun is a must.
When you’re planning your engagement session photography, this might be a good time to test your wedding make-up artist as well. Most make-up artists do free or reduced price make-up trials for your engagement session. What a great way to make sure you’ve got the right look for your big day!
Book Early
During certain times of the year, photographers and make-up artists get booked up. If you’re planning on doing them in October, November or December due to the holiday season, make sure you get on your vendor’s schedule early.
